Let me just start this post by saying that Venice is by far the most favorite part of our trip. We are extremely glad we had the opportunity to explore everything that Venice has to offer and we can't wait to get back there and explore the additional islands in the area.
The ride from Sorrento to Capri was only about 45 minutes on the jetfoil. We arrived in the afternoon and had a few hours to spend on the island. If you don't know Capri is a very mountainous island off the coast of Southern Italy and it can be pretty interesting to get around.
After leaving Pompeii we continued South along the coast to Sorrento which is about another hour and 20 minutes and is part of the Amalfi coast. Due to our packed schedule, we didn't get to stay very long, but we did get to have lunch at Ristorante la Basilica which is located just off the Piazza Tasso.
If you follow me on Instagram you already know that since I was a young kid I’ve always been fascinated with ancient history and volcanoes. Arriving in Naples was a bucket list checked off for me. To be able to see Vesuvius with my own eyes and walk around Pompeii was a dream come true and the best part is sharing these memories with Megan which will never forget.
Arriving in Barcelona we had a full day scheduled and couldn't wait to get started. We only had a day and we wanted to see as much as possible so instead of booking with the cruise our excursion we decided to roll the dice and go on another Viator tour to Montserrat, Park Güell, and La Sagrada Familia.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to utilize our time like we would have liked to while visiting Palma. We knew we had limited time and we wanted to a change of pace so we elected to take a tour of the Caves of Hams which are very popular. What we didn't know was that to reach the caves we would have to drive across the entire island.
Arriving in Cannes, France was exciting as it was the first time we had ever tendered to shore and it was a brand new country to explore. We had booked a tour through Viator to for a half-day in Eze and Monaco, but we weren't able to get everything confirmed prior to arriving so we decided it was a good time to just take it easy and explore Cannes on our own.
Our final day in Rome started out pretty early with a tour through the Vatican. It would have been quite a walk from where our hotel was so we were lucky to find a cab at the Pantheon that early in the morning. The tour we booked was through Viator and our guide Igor was great!
We started our morning off just like the locals with a brisk mile walk to the Piazza del Popolo and a quick stop at a Caffè Ripetta for a pastry and a cappuccino. This little cafe was awesome and so friendly. We would highly recommend stopping here if you get a chance.
Our second full day in Rome started out early with a couple mile walk from our hotel to the Colosseum to meet our tour guide for an 8:00 AM tour. Walking down around the Altare della Patria was quite interesting while Rome was preparing for a large military parade that would be on June 2nd.
After an amazing first day in Rome our second day we headed up to Florence for the day by train. We used Viator for this tour as well and had a great time exploring. The morning started out pretty early as we headed out to the Termini train station. Neither one of us had ever been on a high-speed train so we knew we were in for an interesting day.
Let's start at the beginning, shall we? This past May Megan and I embarked on an "EPIC" European vacation that took us to three different countries, eight areas throughout Italy, two areas in Spain and one in France. On May 18th we boarded flight AA720 in Charlotte bound overnight for Rome, Italy.
On the March 30th I embarked on something that I have been planning for several months. The day started fairly early as I had to drive to Winnsboro, SC which is about hour and fifteen minutes from my house to a small little airport to take my first FAA exam to obtain my PART 107 UAS license.
Last Monday I finally reached my fourth week of Crossfit and the end of the "Ramping" process and the beginning of just diving right in with the rest of the group at 6:30 PM. Monday I wasn't able to go due to feeling under the weather, but I did feel good enough to go on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I was lucky enough to score a ticket to see Pearl Jam in October which was my first time seeing them and a decade after the last time they played here in Charlotte. This was such an amazing show to experience LIVE! If you ever have an opportunity to see them just GO!
Last week two things happened that has never happened to me before. First I turned 30 and second I completed my first WOD at a local Crossfit box called Indian Trail Crossfit. The first thing all through a milestone was was small potatoes compared to what I was about to embark on for the next month or longer.
Well, thought I would take some time and tell the story about my new found friend. On Dec. 23rd Holly and I decided to hit up the local shelters just to see what may be out there. I have been looking around for a dog for a few month’s now, but I wanted to make sure I made the right decision before jumping into something.
